What inspired you to start your business?

I think that the best things in life sometimes happen by accident. There came a point at my previous job where the stress levels were too high, the pay was too low and my desire to really use my natural talents in a way that fulfilled me on the inside, is what helped me make the move into entrepreneurship.

How do you stay motivated through the ups and downs of your business?

For me, motivation comes from the unwillingness to accept anything less than the absolutely best lifestyle for my daughter and I. Trust me, I don’t deserve a mother of the year award or anything, but the role of MOM, which I took on at a young age, is the single most important thing to me. At the end of the day there is a beautiful 8- year old looking up at me..watching my every move. Watching to see how I handle opposition as well as success. Looking on to learn how I maneuver over adversity and apply the lessons I’ve cultivated. No pressure right?!

Do you think you do things differently in business given that you are both a mom AND an entrepreneur?

The answer is HECK YES! There will always be a difference between myself and a single womenpreneur who doesn’t have any children yet. But do I think that she has it easier than I? HECK NO! The only reason that The EmmaRose Agency is here today is because of God and my daughter. Literally. If there was no Aysiah Rose, then the company’s name would have never been conceptualized. The differences that someone may point out are apart of my normal life. The schedule is still very difficult to manage at times. And there may have been an ice cream dinner last week due to sheer exhaustion but I’m loving creating our own “normal”. The key is I don’t let the fact that I have a child keep me from dreaming like anyone would!

What advice would you give the younger you?

Everything happens for a reason. Embrace and enjoy the journey.

How does your spirituality impact your business? I really, don’t think there is enough room here on Heidi’s blog page for me to fully explain this…so I’ll give you all the quick version. Being an adolescent, religion always meant going to church for the greater part of Sunday. Sitting in uncomfortable pews. And attempting to stay awake. As I’ve gotten older, the personality of Christ has revealed itself and with that I’ve realized that my spirituality is something that I must actively seek to see the best results. This applies to every aspect of my life, including my business. Really going forth and doing the work to find, hear & listen and then act upon the voice of God is a formula that I’ve grown to embrace each and everyday.

How do you balance all of your commitments personally and professionally?

As of lately, it has been a real struggle to have a work-life balance. I try to give myself grace every day and remember that there is no cookie cutter solution to finding just the right amount of personal time and work. The lines have blurred between personal and professional relationship as I have made extremely close connections with fellow creatives and developed relationships that aren’t constrained by contracts. I am however making an effort to gain back my weekends by hiring a Virtual Assistant to help manage with tasks Monday - Friday. And she’s ah-mazing!

What has been your biggest challenge along the way and how did you overcome it?

This may come as a surprise but I have been my biggest challenge! Yup. That’s right! The self-sabotaging thoughts are delivered to my inner personal inbox literally by the minute. And there’s no virtual assistant in there to help me clear it all out. There comes to a point where enough is enough and sound guidance is the best choice if success is your final destination. Hiring Heidi, joining a Mastermind Accountability Group and diving into self-improvement and wealth consciousness books, along with prayer, has been my saving grace.

In what ways do you feel like you are impacting the world by doing the work that you do?

I am impacting the world because I am completely and totally following my heart for the first time. Being authentically me and putting my heart into serving my client, leaves my small but mighty mark in the sand…adding to those around me who are also doing the same. Our individual efforts add up to monumental change across the globe!
